Is working from home for you?

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

If you have ever worked from home, you will have loved some elements of it and quite disliked others. I have to admit I always liked being able to start when I wanted, and working in PJs was quite novel, but it really didn’t do my business any good. It sure as hell is risky ironing and answering the phone at the same time!

It turns out that loads of people in the blog world feel the same way too. It was quite enlightening to read some of their articles and comments. It made us feel that creating a workhub and a coworking space in the form of FunkBunk was really was the right thing to do.

New pricing structure at FunkBunk

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Now FunkBunk comes in four different flavours to suit your office needs. We realise that hotdesking doesn’t suit everyone, and renting a permanent office might not float some people’s boats either.

With FunkBunk becoming a more active coworking WorkHub every day, serving Milton Keynes, Leighton Buzzard and Aylesbury we are learning more about small businesses needs and wanted to offer more flexibility and better pricing to you guys.

So we created FunkMonk, FunkTrunk, FunkChunk & FunkBunker to cater for the ‘homeworker who just needs to get out of the house occasionally’ through to the ’small business that needs a permanent base to develop their enterprise from’.

Check out all the details here!

Live/Work Network & Work Hubs

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

There has been some interesting correspondence flying around recently and it turns out that the CLG (Communities and Local Government agency) have initiated research into workhubs as part of an enterprising low carbon national community. This research is with a view to setting up a national network for workhubs like FunkBunk.

We personally think this is great news as work hubs, coworking environments, shared workspaces (or whatever you would like to call them) like ours are the way forward for small business enterprise development in the uk. To find out that we are supporting a low carbon society as well makes us very happy.

The research is being carried out by the Live/Work Network and we shall be watching with interest and getting involved where we can. Improving our service along the way.

For all those FunkBunkers out there, there is a survey you can complete (before the 31st Jan) which will help with their research.

You can find it here.

And more information on the Live / Work Network here.

FunkBunk 1st Birthday - Post Party Report

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

The last bottle has been taken to the bottle bank, the last can recycled and today we dine on leftover crisps and chocolate buttons. As I sit here looking through photos of last night I get a warm feeling that as far as 1st birthday parties go, last night was excellent.

Around 60 people attended the event, enjoying the fantastic art on display, the easy relaxed atmosphere, cool music, a few drinks and an exclusive showing of a short film in our studio.

The art exhibition in the gallery is now open to the public for the rest of September, Mon - Fri, 9am - 6pm so come and see it all for yourself if didn’t make it to the party.

Our thanks goes out to all who contributed, collaborated and congregated!

Want to try out FunkBunk for yourself? For a limited period of time we are now offering your first half day at one of our hot-desks for absolutely nothing, zip, nadda, zilch, zero, gratis, oh and free.

For your mere presence here for a half day you will get free broadband wi-fi, free tea and coffee, free parking and you get to experience life in the ‘Bunk first hand.

Getting out of your home-office or usual working location, even for half a day can do wonders for your motivation. All current FunkBunk residents have commented on how just being here has focused their attention on business and being surrounded other people allows for instant networking opportunities. Just having people to sound ideas off with and brainstorm ideas with in the real world is an amazing working experience.

“Funkbunk is a very friendly place to work and the décor made it extremely calming. I found it really useful to bounce ideas off the creative people in the office and find out what others were doing and working on – you don’t get that working on your own at home. Using the hot-desk helped me to focus a lot more without the distractions from home. It’s a great way to dip your toe in the water without the financial commitment of working full time in an office. If you’re a freelancer and you spend some of your week working with clients or you need to be at home, this is the perfect way to work. I see it as a treat to get out of my home office and go and work in the Funkbunk every few days.” Rachel Toy, Spirit Creative

Go on – give it a go. Come and hang out with us for half a day at the FunkBunk.

The offer expires on the 30th Nov 2009 so get a move on and book early to avoid disappointment - vouchers do not guarantee availability.

To download your FREE half-day hot desk voucher, click here or call us on 0845 003 9559 to find out more.
